Independent project

 For my independent project I thought about making an interactive comic to better my sketch(digital) and creative skills. Deciding whether to go for a comedy genre or a fantasy genre for my comic and I’ll be  making use of adobe photoshop, illustrator, animate, audition and procreate to make my work come together.

I tried using illustrator and photoshop in creating this comic I made some progress and errors but I wasn’t quit satisfied with the results so I resulted in using clip studio which was a little bit easier but it was a learning process for me and I exported them in psd so as to make some edits on photoshop.

For this project I don’t want to do a lot of storytelling but I would have a short comic scene, comic ideas;

The Clumsy chef ; this is about a female young black chef who dreams of becoming the chef of the year but with her clumsy nature is she able to achieve such. I have written down my idea of the scenes and how I want them to be but I feel with the concept I have I would love to give it a try on Figma as I have used Figma once. So my independent project would be more of image story slides with soothing sound, object noise and some interactions and other buttons and concept.

I sketched this on a drawing book, for the title I didn’t want it to look too serious but suit the idea I was going for and the character drawing I sketched it to after so many trials and errors I was able to come up with this character as part of the idea for the project.

This was the concept idea for the character and the result above on the clumsy chef scene is the results.

This is a rough sketch of an idea I had for my clumsy chef but it didn’t fit the idea of a clumsy character. My idea was a little girl but this sketch wasn’t bad but didn’t fit my concept so I used the first one which was the little girl. And trying to draw this digitally didn’t seem easy as I thought it would but drawing w little girl took time and effort using my sketch as a background on the Wacom pro and sketching it out carefully. I also tried using other drawing apps to improve and try make my character there before putting it into photoshop I just had to export as psd before taking it into photoshop.

The above image shows the kitchen, the cooking meal and the chef was feeling tired she went to go watch to and then slept of forgetting the food she had on fire. Showing how clumsy she is by go to take a nap while cooking also.

The idea of the project was to make a comic with animation in it but I spent too much time trying to sketch digitally which is very hard for me, lost a lot of work and had to redo them but for this project I managed to use the sketches I had as a guide in doing this..

The folder size I used is 4000 x 4000 and is good for digital comics and not print out ones. I need to add more comics to this piece I have and let the end of the comics be the parts I have here.
